The boy and I decided that the Contra Costa Canal Trail ought not have all the fun and this chunk of the Lafayette-Moraga Trail was looking a little sparse. My Dad grew up in Lafayette, so I often (check that - always!) heard about how great the Sacramento Northern Railroad was. The LMT is, of course, where the old right-of-way once was. If you've ever wondered why the trail swings so far around toward Stanley, that's the reason - they had to maintain the grade.
The cache itself is a camoed bison a bit up the uphill side of the trail. Bring you own pen. Co-ords are based on about twenty readings.
(It's called Grapevine because the boy wanted to call it that. There's a little vine next to the cache, but I'm pretty darn sure it's not grapevine).
