Geocache Description:

The Barcaldine Tree of Knowledge

This tree symbolises the beginning of the Australian Labor Party. The tree under which a meeting was held in 1891 between the sheep shearers and the land owners. This tree is a Ghost Gum and the original one was poisoned a number of years ago. A sapling from the original stock was put in its place and was later removed and the original preserved dead tree was put back, under a modern structure.
