Just Floundering: I have decided to archive this one. The plaques have been removed so it's not possible to derive the final co-ords and just luck if the location can be guessed correctly.

An offset cache that provides some significant Maori legendary history and a bit of a glimpse of the well known seaside and riverside village of Taipa. Suitable for the whole family with just over 1km walk (return) between start and finish.
The listed co-ordinates will bring you to a monument recording a very significant event enshrined in Maori and the wider Polynesian folklaw. It was here that the famous Polynesian navigator, Kupe, came ashore from his canoe, Mamaru, on his historic discovery of Aotearoa. From here at Taipa Kupe made many of his historic discovery voyages around the New Zealand coast.
After Kupe's return to his Polynesian homeland the Mamaru canoe was honoured by being restricted to carrying only tribal elders of high rank, authority and sacredness and returned with such occupants from Ngati Kahu in the Great Migration.
To determine the co-ordinates of the final read the monument plaque. To find the South co-ordinate determine the number of generations between Kupe's first landing and the Great Migration. To this number add 298 and then add the sum to the listed South co-ordinate.
To find the East co-ordinate determine the number of lines of script on the English version plaque. To this number add 89 and then deduct the sum from the listed East co-ordinate.
Your destination should be within 700m of where you are at the monument.
The cache is a 2 litre plastic bucket type container in camo colours. It contains logbook and pencil and plenty of room for trades.
