Geocache Description:

Don't try to scale the mountain side. you will find the stairway (old castle ruins type) on the same side as the parking lot. There are other ways of getting there, but this is the easiest by far.

Cache has been muggled and moved several times. This time I moved it to the center section of the castle. Please continue to explore past the cache. To the left you will find great views of Mc Tureous and the Bull Ring, To the Right you will find a view of Uruma.

This Gusuku (castle) was constructed northwest of old Agena village on a pinnacle of Ryukyuan limestone near Tengan-gawa riverside. Date of construction is unknown. According to traditional accounts, the castle was built by one of the children of the lord of Ihagusuku Castle who ruled over the area.

On the top of the hill, old, old rock walls, remnants of Agena Castle, encircle the hill. There are several small shrines located in the hillside as well as benches placed throughout the area. There is a playground located in the park and while it’s a little run down, the kids always have fun playing on it. The whole park appears to have been well maintained and landscaped at one time. You might get to see the bullfights during the Gushikawa Festival in October.
