Traveling west of Katherine NT you will come across the Victoria River Region including the town of Timber Creek, Victoria River Roadhouse, Gregory National Park and the mighty Victoria River. There are a number of places along the highway where the visitor can stop and take short walks into the newly established Gregory National Park.
This walk starts right at the highway, only 2 km from the roadhouse.
The escarpment walk is a 3 km return rocky and steep track that takes you to the top of the ridge from where you have breathtaking views over the Victoria River and the escarpments.
Along the trail you will find signs and displays that explain the Nungali and Wardaman people's dreamtime stories of the area.
The trail is not technically difficult but it is steep in parts and you should definitely take some water. Allow an hour or two, depending on how fit you are.
This cache is at the end of the trail so only those prepared to do the walk should attempt. It is definately a worth while walk with great views from the top.
