Manor farm is set in 25 hectares of restored farmland. Manor Farm was formerly intensively farmed for salad crops and has now been transformed to meadows and pasture, which will bring both wildlife benefits and an enhanced landscape for local residents.

The restored fields are already attracting wildlife including skylarks, pied wagtails, linnets and roe deer. An additional small parcel of land nearest to the River Wey is an established haven for wildlife. As a wet meadow that has not been intensively farmed it represents an increasingly rare habitat in Surrey. Manor Farm also has an extra, combined importance, because of its close proximity to Wisley and Ockham Common (a Site of Special Scientific Interest within the Thames Basin Special Protection Area) which the Trust already manages. In the long-term, Manor Farm is envisaged to form part of a project to connect up a number of sites in and around the Manor Farm and Wisley and Ockham area to create a wider ‘Living Landscape’. This will include creating wildlife corridors to link the Trust’s nearby sites of a similar habitat type, so that wildlife can move freely from one area to another, in response to changing climate and other pressures.

Cache contains log pencil and a swap. Small clip and seal container with camo tape.
