Geocache Description:


** 1/24 Update: The area in which this cache is placed used to be called Blue Ridge Center but as of May 26, 2023, it is now Sweet Run State Park! As such, the links and text below have been updated accordingly. **

In Harry Potter's world, a portkey is a magical object that will transport anyone who touches it to a designated location. This multi might not be quite that simple — no instant transport has yet been designed! — but the first time I saw this object along the Wood Thrush Trail, I did have to wonder why exactly it was sitting there.

As you approach the bridge here, you'll likely notice something you don't traditionally see along a forest path. In fact, look carefully enough and you just might feel yourself getting pulled to a new location!

**As 4/2013: First stage container has been changed. The original object (a broom) no longer seems to be kept around here. There is a new portkey object that is no longer quite as easily spotted as the last.


The final cache container is a small square lock-n-lock with room for small travel bugs and coins. (Update 10/2023: Fun fact -- the original cache got swallowed up by the living thing that the replaceement now sits beside. Use a flashlight and you might be able to glimpse it, but alas the original is unaccessible and you're seeking the replacement tucked outside.)
