This is a cache that used to be a multi, but I have decided it is time to make it just a one-stop traditional cache.
The original cache was originally placed as my eleventh hide in a series of micro's hidden in Brantford parks. All of them are stand-alone caches, and are not tied into a final stage. The reasons for placing these caches are to increase the number of caches hidden in the Brantford area, to provide cachers with a brief history of the parks they will be visiting, and to give cachers the opportunity to enjoy some of the beautiful surroundings in "The Best Blooming City" in Ontario! Please take a pen or pencil with you.
Turtle Pond Park is one of Brantford's newly developed parks. At first glance from the street, you will be fooled into thinking that this is a rather small park, but as you make your way into the park you will be surprised by how far back it's borders extend.
Complete with both a developed and a naturalized area this park is equiped with playground equipment, benches, stone chip paths and newly planted trees. The naturalized portion of the park contains two ponds and boasts a turtle nesting area, so during the springtime, please exercise extreme caution when walking along the shoreline.
The two small ponds are used for storm water management for the city. Currently a family of beavers has constructed a dam between the two ponds, and there is much evidence of their continual efforts to fortify their lodge. Also, many types of water fowl frequent Turtle Pond Park.
Be sure take your camera with you and enjoy a chance encounter of the the wildlife kind.
