Geocache Description:

A straight forward micro cache in front of a popular hostelry.

My previous series on the common seemed popular with Londoners, tourists and new cachers, only problem was that the caches got muggled quiet frequently.
Hopefully the new ones will last a little longer.

Clapham Common is an 89 hectare (220 acre) triangular area of grassland situated in south London, England. It was historically common land for the parishes of Battersea and Clapham, but was converted to parkland under the terms of the Metropolitan Commons Act 1878. (Wikipedia)

The site of the original windmill is not known, and there is further confusion as there may have been two windmills.
The miller was Thomas Crenshaw and notes in the parish records of 1665 show that he was also an alehouse keeper.
