Geocache Description:

I always like to place caches on or near Thorton Creek, my favorite watershed in my neighborhood. Well, OK, it's my only watershed in the neighborhood. But this time it's about the 15th Ave NE bridge just south of Northgate Way. This thing was shut down from May 17, 2010 and just opened on April 15, 2011. I drive this route regularly so did not particularly like this detour being in place for nearly a year. According to the city department of transportation website, this is some of the work that was done:

1.Strengthening the bridge structure.
2. Repaving the bridge surface.
3. Correcting settlement problems on the south approach to the bridge.
4. Replacing expansion joints.
5. Repairing cracks and spalls in concrete.
6. Adding a separation railing between the sidewalks and the traffic lanes.
7. Increasing the substandard height of the pedestrian railing.
Correcting erosion problems under the bridge.

From what I can tell, they did a great job and the bridge looks good and seems much safer and studier. Which is really good because when you stand in the middle and look over at the creek below, it is a long way down.

So, what better way to honor the new bridge and bring cachers to a place with a great view of Thornton Creek than to place a cache here.

This should be very easy to find and to access. Very much wheelchair accessible. The container is just bigger than a micro but no room for anything but the log and very small trackables.

There is an unactivated Expedia Travel Tag for FTF. Park on the south end on the east side of the road. Use the west sidewalk so you won't have to cross the bridge in the middle.

DO NOT STOP YOUR CAR ON THE BRIDGE!!

Congrats to funnynose for his speedy FTF - 9 minutes after publishing.
