Remnants of the Past Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BiHuPaWa2: Cache was intact when we came here today 8-27-2022. This was a great cache and a challenge to find. Sorry to say that we have decided to archive it. It’s a bit of a drive for us to come check on it when a DNF is logged. And climbing the hill up to ground zero has become more difficult for us as we get older. So this one is now history! Thanks to all of you who searched for this one.
Keep on caching.

Geocache Description:

SHORT DESCRIPTION This is located in Ishpeming just off Highway 41. You should approach this cache from Lakeshore Drive, where there is an area where you can park just south of the viaduct on the west shoulder of the road. Trail up the hill starts across the street. If you try to get to the cache from the north, you will have a steep cliff to climb.

LONG DESCRIPTION My recent 3 months of geocaching in Florida inspired me to hide this cache. While in Florida, I encountered and found many easy park and grabs. But there were also some very unusual and difficult caches to find. Those were the kind I had fun with even though they often left me frustrated when I had to log a DNF. Caching as team BiHuPaWa2, we were in this area looking for another cache– Last Bluff GCB891. On our way to that cache, we spotted this place and it cried to have a cache put here. And I knew just what kind of hide it would be. So come and find this one and we hope you don’t get frustrated! Near the parking area, there is a trail that winds up the hill leading to the caches. There may be other places to access this cache from but that is the way we hiked up. At least the trip up the hill and the short hike will let you find two caches up here and maybe get two smiley faces. The cache container is well camouflaged. Because of its size, the cache only has a log sheet and a pencil. It would be good to bring a pen with you just in case the pencil gets lost from the cache. It wouldn't be much fun to have to hike back down to your car to get a pen! You must sign the log to get a smiley. PLEASE REPLACE THE CACHE EXACTLY AS YOU FOUND IT. Do not post any pictures that would give the hide away. After you find this one, continue down the trail to Last Bluff. Good luck on your hunt for this. A special prize awaits the First to Find. CONGRATS TO timberdoodlehunter1 and cachingforhotwheels for FTF.
