Geocache Description:

In Memoriam

About the time I finished my first degree, in 1989, I heard a friend's cat had kittens. Being of marginally sane mind -- I would embark upon a second degree -- I offered to adopt two of the litter of four. By their coloration and inseparable nature the names Bill and Ted were a natural choice. They would go on to have many, many excellent adventures.
Alas, only seven years after they came to live with me I would seek my livelihood 2,500 miles to the West. The move would be asking a lot of them, so they remained with my parents. My dad readily adopted Bill and my mother found Ted a welcome diversion. They sent me frequent updates on their doings, watching squirrels from windows, chasing chipmunks or proudly presenting a captured mouse (sometimes still alive!)
The years rolled by and they lived full cat lives, with plenty of attention and good care. Seldom had I seen a cat live past a dozen years, but Bill made it to eighteen, succumbing finally to feline diabetes. In December, 2010 I was to visit my folks back in Michigan and see Ted again, but fate was less than kind, as Ted already a very mature cat of twenty one years, would experience his organs shutting down out of pure old age. I missed him by a week. It was a hard loss, but his life had been good and he was blessed with a caring family to look after him for so long.
Bill and Ted rest side by side behind my old house in Michigan, in the shade of pines and maples where they liked to lounge during hot days of Summer.
