This cache invites you once again to discover a peculiar places of Ida-Viru county.
Ahtme oil shale mine was closed in 2002 and flooded a few years later.
It is estimated that the mine has 36 million cubic meters of water (for comparsion the Lake Ülemiste, which provides drinking water for the Capital of Estonia - 17 million cubic meters).
At the given coordinates you see the water coming out from the mine through the boreholes (bored in May 2005). Interesting is, that it is not being pumped out, but it is pressing himself to the ground.
Water quality in abandoned mines is a separate issue. Estonian Oil Shale Company’s monitoring indicates, that about in three years it will reach a level of quality of drinking water, but final purification will probably last a dozen years.
Please restore the camouflage.
! Sometimes muggles may have a picnic nearby!
