Kolka Evangelical Lutheran Church was buildt in 1886. The
foundations was laid by the estate owner of Dundaga Karl
Ludvig
Ferdinand fon der Osten – Saken. He also left a message
for
future generations in the church tower.
It is believed that the first church in Kolka was built around
1040
by the Swedes. But the inscription on the old altar piece
“Anno 1648” suggests that the church in Kolka was
already in 17th century, although there are no written
confirmation
of that. A land for parish was granted in 1833 and in the same
year
the Kolka Evangelical Lutheran Church was built and
consecrated.
In the Crimean War, 1855, rifle bullets and cannon balls
pierced
wooden church walls, doors, windows, roof and also the altar
piece.
There even exploded a bomb, but the church didn’t burn
down.
In the 1879 the chursh had to be dismanteled because it had
dilapidated.
In 1885 in the place of the old church was built a new stone
church
by the architect T. Zeilers plan. During the Soviet period
the
church was demolished and arranged in the warehause. The last
service was held in 1969.
With the Revival of Latvian nation, this once devastated
stone
church was reborn. Church restoration began in 1992, but the
renewed church consecration took place in the autumn of 1993.
It
now has a modern style altar painting donated by the artist
Helena
Heinrihsone in 1993.

dievnams
nenodega. 1879. gada baznicu vajadzeja nojaukt, jo ta bija
pussagruvusi. Vecas baznicas vieta pec arhitekta T. Zeilera
plana
saka buvet jaunu mura baznicu. 1885. gada vasara baznica jau
bija
gatava. Pirmos buvdarbus uzsaka buvmeistars Oto Ziverts 1885.
gada
(arhitekts: T. Zeilers). Padomju laika baznica bija izdemoleta
un
taja iekartoja noliktavu.
1969.gada notika pedejais dievkalpojums, pec tam baznicu
izdemoleja. Reize ar Atmodu atdzima ari šis savulaik
izpostitais no stipriem akmeniem muretais dievnams. Baznicas
restauraciju saka 1992. gada, bet atjaunotas baznicas
iesvetišana notika 1993. gada rudeni. Modernaja stila
gleznoto altargleznu 1993.gada davinajusi maksliniece Helena
Heinrihsone.
