Geocache Description:

This is a 2.5 mile circular walk around the Oldbury area of Shropshire.

The church of St Nicholas is situated in Oldbury, a small village on the western outskirts of Bridgnorth. Oldbury is an ancient parish with records going back to the Domesday Book.

Originally a daughter church of Morville, it became independent after the dissolution of Shrewsbury Abbey. In 1948 it joined with St Mary Magdalene, Bridgnorth. There has been a church on the site since the twelth century (first recorded 1138).

Largely the product of a Victorian restoration, it is a small, attractive church, with limited kitchen facilities added in 1993.

Parking facilities and an open yet cosy most attractive historic interior provide for wonderful Oldbury's WI Hall is a 5 minute walk away, available for hire - call Mrs Rennie on 764454.
St Nicholas also serves the neighbouring hamlet of Eardington.
