Kommunen har pr. 1. november 2010 ca. 21.500 innbyggere, og har med det flest innbyggere i Nord-Trøndelag fylke. Nøkkelopplysninger Stjørdal kommune ligger i Nord-Trøndelag fylke, 35 km. nord for Trondheim. Kommunen består av kommunedelene Skatval, Hegra, Lånke og sentrumsområdet Halsen.
