Old Man of Pencader Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Andalusite: This cache has been disabled for some time and as the owner has not repaired/replaced it, I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

In the 12th century, Henry II of England, made another of his raids into Wales when he met an old man in Pencader, Henry asked him if he thought the Welsh had any chance.
The old man replied 'I do not think that any other nation than this of Wales, or any other tongue, will answer for this corner of the earth.'
The cache is a small camoflaged cliplock box with enough space for small swaps etc.
This road can be busy so beware of muggles.

This is our first cache hide, it's a cache and dash that's easy to find, but is difficult to see so you may have to have a feel around, it's a busy road, so stealth is required. The 1st Pencader Cub Scouts will be helping to look after this cache.

There is a lay by on the other side of the road with an information panel about the history of the area, please take a few minutes to have a read.

Full translation of old man's reply.
"This nation, O King, may now, as in former times, be harassed, and in a great measure weakened and destroyed by your and other powers, and it will also prevail by its laudable exertions, but it can never be totally subdued through the wrath of man, unless the wrath of God shall concur. Nor do I think that any other nation than this of Wales, nor any other language, whatever may hereafter come to pass, shall on the day of severe examination before the Supreme Judge, answer for this corner of the earth."
Please replace cache so that it can't be seen as young muggles pass here on the way to school.

Congratulations to WYDDFA for being first to find.
