Geocache Description:

This cache is situated on the Backworth waggonway, created in 1818 to transport coal from Backworth pit to the docks at North Shields.

The woodland was the site of Hotspur Brickworks between 1877 until 1967.

The village of Havelock Place once stood on the triangular field opposite the information board although nothing really remains - the village was deserted when the nearby mine and brickworks closed.

There is no need to climb into the fenced off area.
