Geocache Description:

Park in the small parking area at Hannigarth. Follow the 'coastal route' sign and then the red painted posts through the croft and down to the bay. The cache is hidden at the North end of the bay.

Sandwick is a beautiful bay on the South East edge of Unst.
The tumbledown hoosies of an old crofting township lie in a sweep around the grassy slopes backing the beach.
This is a lush sheltered bay which has been inhabited for a very long time. In the area there are also the remains of Pictish Burial cairns and Viking or Norse settlements.
The cache is hidden within a pile of stones overlooking the bay from the north. you don;t have to disturb any stones in any of the structures around about to find the cache.

When hidden, the cache contained a selection of small swappable items and a Travel Bug.
