Geocache Description:

This cache is located at Ramsden Square not too far from the bus stops and nearby parking. Might give you something to do while waiting for a bus.

This cache has been downgraded to a Nano so you’ll need a writing implement and some tweezers to access the log.




Lord Ramsden was one of the founders of Barrow and became the Barrow’s fist mayor. He worked for the local railways where he became the superintendent. He was also involved in the creation of Barrow Shipbuilding Company which later changed to Vickers Shipbuilding in 1897. Sir James Ramsden was knighted in 1872, the statue was unveiled the same year, the statue was created by Matthew Noble. Sir James Ramsden died in 1896 and is interred in Barrow cemetery.
