Shropshire Church Gems - Aston Eyre Traditional Cache
Elephantsrus: Thanks to Manxrose and Dettol for your diligent search. Sadly we are no longer in the neighbourhood so replacing is not practical. Glad so many people did find it over the years and enjoyed this spot. PnH

This Cache is a Series of churches in the lovely surrounding's of Shropshire Countryside.
It is also an invitation for other local cachers to continue to add more so the series can grow, under the title Shropshire Church Gems (*****).
The Norman Aston Eyre church was a chapel-of-ease (a church building other than the parish church, built within the bounds of a parish for the attendance of those who cannot reach the parish church conveniently) to St Gregory's, Morville. It has no dedication. The tympanum over the south door representing Christ's entry into Jerusalem is "the best example of Norman carving in Shropshire" and is the work of the Hereford School. The church bells are circa 1400. There are no burials allowed in the churchyard.
The church is generally open during daylight hours and is a beautiful, peaceful space. Well worth a few minutes to sit, to reflect and to be at peace.
