Rock of Gibraltar Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been disabled for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.
Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."
If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,
Geocache Description:

This is our first cache placement. For this one you are looking for a 1l cliplock container hidden not far off the beaten track. It is located on a route popular with dog walkers and horseriders. Terrain is easy, no scrambling required. Access can be gained from Galloway Lane via Bradley Lane or Gibraltar Road (hence the name). Best park your car on Galloway lane and make your way down to GZ on foot as there is no parking available in the valley, or alternatively, park on Smalewell road, head downhill on foot and follow the footpath to the right (instead of continuing downhill towards the ford.) There is another route via Daleside Road, crossing over the level crossing (don't forget to look for 'this daughter emigrated to yorkshire' if you cross here). There is only access to resident's vehicles after the level crossing so you will have to park your car on Daleside Road, taking care to watch for trains, cross the level crossing and walk up the track taking a left turn at the T junction. There is also access from Tyersal Road. Park near the childrens park and follow the track that leads down behind the Residents Association.
We chose this spot as we often stroll along this route and into Black Carr Woods which is a beautiful area and well worth a visit. If you continue along Gibraltar Road into the woods you can also take in 'Von Trapp Villa' and 'Edelweiss' by flookbird.

At the time of placing the cache contained a log book and pencil and was full to bursting with delightful treasures.

The GPS seems a little erratic down in the valley so i have tried to average out the co-ordinates. The hint should be a huge help if you have trouble.

the cache has recently been relocated to its current position as it was a little too exposed in its original hiding place.

Please re hide the geocache well to prevent it being muggled. Thanks.

Hope You enjoy.
