ELS POBLETS is a small village placed in La Marina Alta,
north of the province of Alicante, original of the Moslem epoch, it
was born of the presence of three small farm-houses, "Els Llocs",
which the passage of time met place to Setla, Mirarrosa and
Miraflor, they joined definitively in 1971 and known popularly by
Els Poblets, name that was acquired officially in 1991. The coastal
band of this locality, shelters the testimony of the most ancient
settlers and it remembers us that we are on the tracing of the Via
Augusta, which was communicating the whole Mediterranean coast of
Roman Spain.
We have wanted to dedicate a series of geocaches to
show this nice village placed in a zone of great tourist activitye
presided by Dénia and Xàbia and that frequently goes unnoticed,
hidden by the numerous orange grows that surround it.
The towers " of guaita " (in valencià language)
also known as towers of sentry, of Moors or watchtowers, are
architectural elements of military use used in many places of the
world, they usually are isolated structures and their principal aim
is to provide a high and sure place from which being able to do
military observations. We can find a great number of them along the
coastal line. They were raised as defense against the incursions
and corsairs, Berber assaults and pirates in the 16th century. They
were forming part of a network of towers with function of vigilance
and notice of assaults. They were communicating between them by
means of luminous or sonorous signs. (Taken from the vikipèdia)
Nowadays, walking along Els Poblets, we can find
three of them: most known is Mirarrosa's Tower known by the
neighbors of the village as " La Torreta ", the presence of
loopholes in the faces south and north of the tower allows to
observe the architectural military Renaissance trend that appears
in the Kingdom of Valencia in the 15th century and fullly in the
second half of the XVIth; of the observable tower from the wp 1
nothing we can say since we have not found documentation on it; La
Torre de l'Almadrava, belongs to Dénia's municipal area. It is the
most north tower of Alacant's province, it is also known as Torre
del Palmar, and has the peculiarity of not being constructed on an
elevation, but in the plain of the beach. Its function was to
defend the zone of fishing where there was used the technology
known as almadraba (tunny fishery) that gives name to the beach and
to support the control on the well of sweet water that you can find
close to the base.
About the cache
This is a multicache that takes us a walk along
three towers " of guaita " in a route of approximately 5 km, in
each of them it is necessary to answer a question that will help to
obtain the coordinates of the final cache placed in l'Almadrava's
beach, a calm beach of pebbles with not much people even in high
season. If the smart geocacher does not have desire to walk, he can
approach in car each wp, though I should recommend to you the bike
since it is a completely flat area. The initial coordinates
correspond to a parking near wp1.

property because of it the coordinates correspond to a piece of
open land from which we can observe it perfectly; the tower does
not look very good. From this point, if we look eastward, we will
see several trades, one of them has a very visible yellow label
in which we can read:

ELS POBLETS és una petita població situada a la comarca
de la Marina Alta, al nord de la província d'Alacant, originària de
l'època musulmana, va néixer de la presència de tres petites
alqueríes, "Els Llocs", que amb el pas del temps van donar lloc a
Setla, Mira-rosa i Miraflor, nuclis units definitivament en 1971 i
coneguts popularment pel nom d' Els Poblets, denominació que va
adquirir oficialment en 1991. La franja costanera d'aquesta
localitat, alberga el testimoniatge de pobladors més antics i ens
recorda que estem sobre el traçat de la Via Augusta, que comunicava
tota la costa mediterrània d'Hispània. Hem volgut dedicar una sèrie
de geocaches a retre homenatge a aquest agradable poblet situat en
una zona de gran afluència turística presidida per Dénia i Xàbia i
que freqüentment passa desapercebut, dissimulat pels nombrosos
horts de tarongers que l' envolten.
La torre de sentinella o torre de guaita (del
fràncic
wahta), també anomenades torres de moros o talaies (de l'àrab
tala'la), són elements arquitectònics de caràcter militar.
és un tipus de fortificació
utilitzada en moltes parts del món. Difereix d'una torre normal en que el seu
ús primari és militar i que en general
és una estructura aïllada. El seu objectiu principal és
proporcionar un lloc alt i segur des del qual poder fer
observacions militars. En alguns casos, torres d'ús no militar, com
pagodes religioses, poden ser utilitzades com torres de guaita. A
la línia costanera van proliferar a tot el llarg de la costa i
varen ser aixecades com a defensa a les incursions i atacs de
corsaris,
barbarescs i pirates
al segle XVI.
Per prevenir aquests atacs es construïen aquestes torres amb funció
de talaia de vigilància i alhora defensives. Formaven part d'una
xarxa de torres que tenien la funció de guaita però també d'avís
d'atacs, es comunicaven entre elles a través de senyals lluminosos
o sonors. Aquestes torres poden ser de planta circular o quadrada,
aïllades o adossades a un edifici i coronades amb matacans i merlets. (de la vikipèdia)
Actualment, passejant pels Poblets, podem trobar tres d'elles:
la més coneguda és la Torre de Mira-rosa coneguda pels veïns del
poble com “la Torreta”, la presència de troneres en les
cares sud i nord de la torre permeten observar la tendència
arquitectònica militar renaixentista que apareix en el Regne de
València al segle XV i plenament en la segona meitat del XVI; de la
torre observable des del wp 1 gens podem dir car no hem trobat
documentació sobre ella; i la Torre de l'Almadrava, molt propera al
mar, pertany al terme municipal de Dénia però hem volgut
incloure-la en aquest geocache per estar geogràficament molt
propera a les altres i a l'amagatall final. És la torre més
septentrional de la província d'Alacant, ja molt propera al límit
amb la de València. També es coneix com a Torre del Palmar, i té la
peculiaritat de no estar construïda sobre una elevació, sinó en la
plana de la platja. La seva funció era vigilar la zona de pesca on
s'emprava la tècnica coneguda com a almadrava que dóna nom a la
platja i mantenir el control sobre el pou d'aigua dolça que es
troba al costat de la seva base.
Informació sobre el
cache
Es tracta d'un multicache que ens porta de passeig per les tres
torres de guaita en una ruta d'uns 5 km, en cadascuna d'elles s'ha
de contestar una pregunta que ajudarà a aconseguir les coordenades
del cache final situat a la platja de l'Almadrava, una tranquil·la
platja de còdols molt poc transitada fins i tot en temporada alta.
Si l'astut geocacher no té ganes de caminar, pot apropar-se amb
cotxe a cadascun dels wp, encara que us recomanaria la bicicleta
car es tracta d'un terreny completament pla. Les coordenades
inicials corresponen a un còmode aparcament molt proper al
wp1.
TORRE WP1 ( 38° 51.193'N - 0° 0.723'E) està situada dins
d'una propietat privada per això les coordenades corresponen a un
descampat des del qual podem observar-la perfectament; la torre no
val gran cosa. Des d'aquest punt, si mirem cap a l'est, veurem les
façanes de diversos comerços, un d'ells té un rètol groc molt
visible en el qual es llegeix:

TORRE DE MIRA-ROSA ( 38° 50.850'N - 0° 0.954'E) Prou més vistosa que l'anterior, es
pot aparcar el cotxe molt prop d'ella en ( 38° 50.846'N - 0°
0.928'E). Si ens situem enfront de la porta d'accés a la torre,
podrem veure a baix, en la paret, uns orificis per a focus de llum,
quants orificis hi ha?

d'anar amb cotxe es pot aparcar al costat de la mateixa torre. Cal
buscar un panell informatiu i llegir-ho per tal de contestar a la
