Geocache Description:

A Quick cache and dash and the fifth of the cornish crosses series

We have noticed so many crosses on the roadside in Penwith so we have decided to start a cornish crosses series. Anyone wishing to add to ther series please contact us for the next available number.
some caches will not be by the cross for either safety to cachers or safety to the cross.

Remains of a late 9th-early 10th century stone cross, discovered in a hedge in 1869 during road widening. It was moved to its present position from the centre of the road junction between 1939 and 1945. Dressed granite wheel-headed monolithic cross with short integral shaft set over a later round shaft and socketted into a stepped round base made of 2 granite monoliths. Cross has crucifixion to one face and Greek cross and 4 bosses to the opposite side, all carved in relief.
