Geocache Description:

Schuylkill County celebrates its Bicentennial in 2011 and as part of the celebration the Bicentennial Committee will be hosting a Picnic and Fireworks show at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park. As part of the celebration, the Schuylkill County Geocachers will be hosting a Geocaching event on the same day.

As part of the Geocaching event, 12 caches will be hidden around Schuylkill County. As caches are searched for and found, cachers will learn about the diversity and history of the County.

Registration runs from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. All registered cachers will also receive a coupon upon registration for a hot dog/hamburger at the picnic.

Cachers will have a chance to receive a trackable Schuylkill County Bicentennial GeoCoin. Upon registration, each cacher will receive a card. Each cache will have paper punch in it. Upon logging the find, cachers should punch their card in the corresponding space. When all caches are found the card should be turned in at the Schuylkill County Geocachers table at the Bicentennial Picnic. All registered cachers that complete their punch cards will also be entered into a drawing to win a stuffed ammo can. We will also be giving away a trackable hat as a door prize sometime before the fireworks. You must come and pick up the door prizes. The first 90 to hand in their correctly punched card will receive a GeoCoin. The twelve caches will be published on geocaching.com the day of the event. Please make sure you are registered and have your punchcard before finding any caches that start with SCB-#. So you can punch the card that will make you eligible for the coin.

Each cache will be full of small prizes for the taking. We would like to thank all of our sponsors, which include Lowes, Zippo, Mrs. T's, Schaeffers Harley Davidson, Geo-Gear, AAA, Bob Weaver Chevrolet and many more.

While at the Lake, the Schuylkill County Geocachers will have a table with information about Geocaching. Make sure you check out the other caches in the park!

There will be free entertainment throughout the day including: the Schuylkill Express Barbershop Chorus, Soji, Matt Haslam - Country Rock, the Schuylkill County Junior Idol, Pine Grove Area Community Band and Mindset. Free activities throughout the day include: clowns/balloon animals, face painting, County displays, children’s games, fishing demonstrations, etc. There will be kayak & canoe rentals. The fireworks are free. There will be food for sale or pack a lunch and/or supper. Bring your fishing license and you can fish at the Lake. You can also enjoy the boardwalk that leads to the waterfall.
