Robert "Bob" Stokoe: 21 September 1930–1 February 2004
Bob only managed Blackpool for a short time, from 1970–1972 when he took over from Stan Mortensen. Blackpool had just been relegated to the Second Division but Bob achieved European success for Blackpool with the Anglo-Italian Cup in June 1971. Blackpool and Bologna both reached the final and after 90 minutes the score was 1–1 and the match went into extra-time, when the Seasiders silenced the 40,000 home supporters with Micky Burns’ 99th minute winner. Bob took Blackpool to Italy, and beat Bologna on their own pitch. The Seasiders qualified for the final again the following year but were beaten 3-1 by Roma. Bob soon went back to the north-east and led Sunderland to an FA Cup win but in May 1978 he returned to Blackpool for another short spell only to resign again before the start of the following season. During his whole career as a manager he was never sacked by any of his clubs. Bob died at the age of 73 and he will always be remembered by supporters for taking the Seasiders into Europe, and winning.
This hide can be done as a Cache and Dash if you park on the bridge. Be aware the car park is a monitored Pay and Display, and if you are walking between Bob's and Bill's caches use the tunnel under the bridge, it's safer.
With these coords you should see two old, lidless caches, now step back a bit and look again inland.
