This is a tricky cache and should be done with care !! you my also require the use of special equiptment - However it can be done without !!
Riverside Park is a 32 hectare site located along the River Itchen and includes six football pitches, two cricket pitches, 18 hole pitch and putt, a tennis court, skate park and three play areas. The Southampton and District Society of Model Engineers run a miniature railway open to the public on Sunday afternoons during the summer months.
Take a leisurely walk along the River Itchen a chalk river designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Recognised internationally as an important habitat for wildlife such as salmon, water voles, kingfishers, dragonflies and otters. The non tidal section of the river supports a variety of freshwater fish, including dace, roach and the migratory salmon and sea trout. Continuing along the river gives views onto the conservation areas on the other side where unusual species make their home including kingfisher, water vole, otter, various warblers and sometimes even cuckoo.
Riverside Park forms a major part of the Itchen Way within Southampton, a 30 mile walk which follows the course of the river from its mouth at the Solent to its source via Winchester.
