Geocache Description:

Located along the disused Knott End to Garstang railway line. Care must be taken going up the steps onto Park Lane at Preesall on return, because of passing cars at the top.

Access to the disused line is over the brow of the railway bridge on the North side of Park Lane, Preesall. There is an indication of a public footpath down some steps (Access: N53 deg 55.252/W2 deg 58.149).

The Pilling Pig
The loco using this line was called the 'Pilling Pig' because of the squeal of the whistle. The name later moved to the railway line itself. There is only one mile of where the railway ran left but keeper's cottages can still be found further along. A restored loco is available for viewing at the side of the main road in Pilling.

The egg packing station at Preesall is the old railway station (private now). From the railway bridge you may be lucky enough to see the original platform.

This path is ideal for children or mountain bikers wanting to make a circular route.

Well done to nesrelleg for FTF!!
