AKERSHUS SLOTT OG FESTNING



Akershus slott og festning (ofte bare kalt Akershus festning) er en av de mest betydelige festningene i Norgeshistorien. Den ble opprinnelig bygget som en middelaldersk kongeborg med sete for kongens representanter, strategisk beliggende på Akersneset i Oslo. På 1600- tallet ble den bygget om til et renesanseslott omgitt av en bastionfestning. Den over 700 år gamle borgen har overlevd flere beleiringer, men har aldri blitt inntatt med makt av en fiendtlig, utenlandsk hær. Den ble først lagt ned som militært anlegg i 1815, men reetablert i perioden 1820-1850-. Den gikk endelig ut av operativ militær drift i perioden 1850-1900 og ble da et militært hovedkvarter, skole og depot- og forlegningsområde. Deler av anlegget ble også benyttet som fensgel og straffarbeidsanstalt fra 1820.

Festningen har navn etter gården Aker som eide neset hvor borgen ble bygget. Navnet er sammensatt av gårdsnavnet (fra norrønt Akr, åker), og hús i betydningen borg eller kastel. Borgen har så gitt navn til lenet, amtet og fylket Akershus. Gården Aker lå midt i Osloherad og ble valgt til kirkested (Gamle Aker kirke) og dermed fikk sognet og senere herredet også navnet Aker.
Området er fortsatt militært og det daglige vaktholdet ivaretas av Hans Majestet Kongens Garde. Forsvarsmuseet, Norges Hjemmefrontmuseum og den nye integrerte ledelsen av Forsvaret har lokaler på Akershus festning

Akershus Castle and Fortress (often called Akershus Fortress) is one of the most significant strongholds in the history of Norway. It was Originally built as a medieval castle with royal seat of King's representatives strategically located on the headland in Oslo. In 1600 - the number was converted into a Renaissance castle surrounded by a bastion fortress. The over 700 year old castle has survived several sieges, but have never been taken by force by an enemy, foreign army. It was first laid down as a military facility in 1815, but re-established in the period 1820-1850 -. It finally went out of operational military operations in the period 1850-1900 and was a military headquarters, school and depot and barracks area. Parts of plant was also used as fensgel and hard labor from detention 1820.

The castle is named after the farm Aker who owned the castle headland was built. The name is composed of the farm name (from Old Norse akr, field), and houses in the meaning castle or Kastel. The castle is then given Name leaning, amtet and county of Akershus. The farm was located in the middle of Aker Oslo Heard and was elected to the church (Old Aker Church) and thus was the parish and later township also named Aker.
The area remains militarily and the daily responsibility of the guard His Majesty the King's Guard. Armed Forces Museum, Norway Resistance Museum and the new integrated management of the Armed Forces premises at Akershus fortress.
