Geocache Description:

This is a multicache. The original co-ords are for parking at the first site only and are not for the final location. This is a 1 litre container big enough for trackables etc. It contains log book, pen, plus a few trade items. Park at the co-ordinates given and head for the memorial (within site of parking about 70 feet away) where you will find a list of questions in order to find the final cache at: N51 AB.CDE E000. FG.HIJ

This memorial was placed here in June 2010 at the instigation of a local resident, who raised money by various means, to commemorate the use of the fields here as a tempororay airfield known as ALG's or "Advanced Landing Grounds". This particular field was used by both American and Canadian Spitfire airforces and ground crew as a practice for "Operation Overlord", escorting daylight bombing raids into France and the Low Countries. The memorial is made of Kent Ragstone. A DVD was produced to celebrate this occasion and a flypast was made by a P51 Mustang, "Big Beautiful Doll" Usually there are flags flying but for some reason none were here when we placed the cache. The cache itself is not near the memorial, but only provides clues and brings you to perhaps an otherwise unknown place. Note the remains of the landing strip also when you first enter Chickenden Lane. PlEASE BEWARE OF SPEED HUMPS! Park at above co-ords. and proceed to the memorial in order to find the answers: B and C = No. of US Army Air Force D and G = The common1st digit of RCAF squadrons E= ?26 Airfield F = 1st no. of the American Fighter Squadrons, Same as large number on aircraft H and I = The years that the Americans and Canadians were here 19_ _ to 1944 J = last No. of airfield 12?
