Cherry Tree Hill Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is on a small inconspicuous track leading from The Glenelg Highway up to the Cherry Tree Hill Fire Tower. The way the highway is shaped you are pretty well much as the closest point to the GZ when the track leaves the highway. It is 2wd.
The cache was placed during the annual get-together / conference of Fire Spotters from across Victoria. For more information on Fire Towers see www.firelookoutsdownunder.com or www.firelookout.org This fire tower is located in a pine plantation and due to a bushfire approx 3 years ago the pines have been harvested and replanted, thus the views from the ground are still excellent. Recent CSIRO studies have shown that by far the best method of fire detection is having operational fire lookouts like this one.
