Geocache Description:

Pilot Butte Cemetery

The above coordinates are for parking. We did a cemetery puzzle cache in Tubac AZ this winter and it was a lot of fun. Read the directions carefully.

You will only be looking for clues inside the cemetery. Here are a couple of guidelines to remember while searching for the needed information.

All the information that you need to gather is located on stones and grave markers. Remember there may be visitors to the cemetery, so please be respectful of their privacy. All of the names and dates you will need to locate are on stones that are easy to read. You do not have move anything. Your eyes are all you need.

This cache has seven parts. Your mission is to use the provided coordinates to find the appropriate stone and gather the information you need to find the final coordinates. The final coordinates are as follows: N44 03.ABC - W 121 17.DEF. You must find the information for ABC and DEF by answering the following questions which each have the coordinates of a particular stone. Then substitute the appropriate letter with the number. This really is fun, so here are the questions!

A. N44 03.178 - W 121 17.371
The final resting place of B.L. Castator. Add the two same digits in the year of B.L.'s birth.

B. N44 03.233 - W 121 17.259
Here lies the Elliott family, Mother, Father, Lester, Chester and Frank. Subtract 3 from the last digit of the year of death for all three brothers.

C. N44 03.243 - W 121 17.218
Here lies Civil War Veteran William Matchett. Take his age at death and subtract these two digits from one another.

D. N44 03.302 - W 121 17.358 This is the final resting place of Ralph and Anna Yeaton. This is a hard one and may stump you. Subtract the final digit of the year of birth from final digit of the year of death of Anna Yeaton.

E. N44 03.382 - W 121 17.211
Here lies "Doc" WA Foley. Add the two smallest digits in the year of his death.

F. N44 03.354 - W 121 17.191
This is the final resting place of Phyllis Irene Graham. There is a two letter abbreviation in the statement on this headstone. The abbreviation stands for two words. Take the number of letters in these two words and add one.

Now that you have the final coordinates you can walk to the final cache. DO NOT take the direct route. Take the sidewalk to the final cache. It's not in the cemetery but fairly close by. Hope you have fun and please re-hide the cache well. It is hidden in an area with kids on bicycles and hikers.
