This cache is located near a memorial dedicated in memory to those who served in the Whitesboro Fire Department. True Hero's!!
So, Welcome to the Village of Whitesboro!!!!.....Hugh White, a veteran of the American Revolution, founded the Town of Whitestown in March of 1788. Whitestown is located in the Mohawk River Valley northwest of and adjacent to the City of Utica. The Town covers 28.1 square miles in Oneida County and includes the Villages of Whitesboro, Oriskany, Yorkville and part of New York Mills. The New York State Thruway passes through the Town east-west along with New York State Route 69. The Barge Canal passes close by. Conrail provides rail service. The population, according to the 2000 US Census, is 18,635. The Town is primarily residential in nature with the residents commuting to work in the Villages and in the nearby Cities of Utica and Rome. The Town provides Water Districts, Sewer Districts, Fire Districts and Lighting Districts. Fire protection is provided by the four Village Fire Departments. Police protection includes the four Village Police Departments, the Town Police Department, the County Sheriff and the New York State Police. This property also hosts the Whitesboro field days each year with rides, games and lots of good treats for the kids....and me!
