Quick park and grab. Maynard Field was considered completely modern compared with other airfields at the time, and featured intersecting runways, hangars, gasoline, a telephone, a mechanic and two parking areas for cars and trucks.
The field was closed by the late 1930s as air traffic switched to Miller Municipal Air Field, which opened on the northeast side of town in 1927. It was renamed Smith Reynolds Airport in 1942.
