The Hollinwood Branch Canal was a canal near Hollinwood, in Oldham, England. It left the main line of the Ashton Canal at Fairfield Junction immediately above lock 18. It was just over 4.5 miles long and went through Droylsden and Waterhouses to terminate at Hollinwood Basin. It rose through four locks at Waterhouses and another four at Hollinwood. Immediately above lock 22 at Waterhouses was Fairbottom Junction where the Fairbottom Branch Canal started. Beyond Hollinwood Basin there was a lock free private branch, known as the Werneth Branch Canal, to Old Lane Colliery, which opened in 1797. It is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Local Nature Reserve.

Hadfield Wood Recyclers is one of the oldest wood recycling companies in the UK and a founder of the Wood Recyclers Association, the industry’s trade association. With more than 30 years experience in the industry, our award-winning business has gained an enviable reputation for service and quality.

We specialise in recycling waste wood to produce a range of products including easibed equine bedding, easichick poultry bedding and easicattle, a cattle bedding. We also recycle wood into panel board, arena surfaces, play area surfaces and filter beds.

We were the first wood recycler to enter into large-scale biomass in the UK and the first to sign a long-term contract with a large domestic biomass station. We are now a leading player in the UK’s biomass market, both large and small scale.
