Geocache Description:

One of a series of caches around historical locations on the Isle of Skye.
This features in the travels of Bonnie Prince Charlie following defeat at Culloden.

Sgeir Mhor, the Big Skerry, aka the Black Rock, is a small tidal island on the edge of Portree Bay. It is the place from which, on 1st July 1746, Bonnie Prince Charlie took a boat to cross to Raasay, evading Hanoverian troops and sympathisers. They sailed back the next day, in a constant to-ing and fro-ing across the island, trying to evade capture.

The cache is placed close by a convenient bench with a fine view of the island, Ben Tianavaig and the isolated sandy cove of Camas Ban.
