Geocache Description:

I am dedicating this cache to the late great Lionel Rose, who spent a number of years living and training in Kilcunda. His house/shack still stands today. The car park that you need to be in to access this cache is named after our late hero Lionel Rose.

This is another cache in the series for the Bass Coast Rail Trail. It is the only coastal rail trail in Victoria and is very well used by walkers and bike riders. The rail trail extends 16 kms from Anderson to Wonthaggi. This trail is well know for the trestle bridge that is at Kilcunda.
This part of the trail is well visited by the local surfers checking out the surf to see if it is any good.
The surf here is for the experienced surfer. The beach/surf is also a popular spot with the local beach fishermen.
This part of the trail is a great spot for just taken in the view of the sea and surrounding area.
I remember we called in here one day to check out the raging sea. It was white water as far as you could see and the wind, it was that strong we had to keep hold of geochild so geochild didn't blow away.
The sea here is one of many faces, it can be wild one day, calm and beautiful the next day.
I think this area has one of the best views along the whole rail trail so don't forget to bring a camera if you like taking photos.

There are several access points for parking along the rail trail. The Anderson round-about, Mitchell mine area kilcunda, Kilcunda near trestle bridge, Powlett River road, Station Street Dalyston and Daly street Dalyston, Lower Powlett road Wonthaggi and South Dudley road in Wonthaggi.

Hope you enjoy it. You are looking for a sistema container with logbook pencil and small swaps. Please keep an eye out for muggles and replace cache as you found it or it will be seen.

Congratulations to Hearse068, Thing No1 ans Thing No2 on being joint FTF
