Geocache Description:

An easy drive-by cache, however, stealth is often required as this is can be a busy area especially if there is a funeral taking place in the nearby cemetery or the weather is fine.

A delightful location just outside Stromness facing the full might of Atlantic winter storms. The cemetery near the cache site must surely be one of the most exposed locations anywhere in the United Kingdom. There are magnificent views looking towards Hoy across Hoy Sound and a lovely beach at the end of the track opposite the cache site.

The cache is a drive-by, however, the walk around the coastal path to the cache from Stromness is wonderful at all times of the year. The coastal path continues north past Black Craig and on to North Gaulton Castle, which in the author’s view, must be one of the finest cache locations anywhere. From there the northerly walk on to Yesnaby and the Brough of Birsay is unrivalled.

The cache is a 35mm film canister with log and pencil.
