Warners Pond Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Cook01821: I stopped by to check on this cache on a beautiful New England fall afternoon, and didn't see evidence of the cache anywhere. It has had a good 10+ year run, after replacing it once early on. I no longer work nearby, so I'm going to go ahead and archive this after 310 finds.

Geocache Description:

A traditional cache located near a canoe launch on Warners Pond, in West Concord, MA.

6/6/2012. Cache coordinates, description and hint have been updated when I replaced the cache.

Warners Pond was formed more than 300 years ago when Nashoba Brook was dammed to power a saw mill. In 1857, Ralph Warner purchased the property and much of the surrounding property, improving the dam to power his Pail Factory. After that, the pond became known as Warners Pond and the surrounding village Warnersville.

Warners Pond is approximately 54 acres in size, with a maximum depth of only 12’, and an average depth of 4.5’. There is a kiosk on site that gives a good rundown of the history of the pond of the area, as well as describing the invasive plants in this pond. Give that a read while you’re there!

This cache is located on Concord Conservation land, which is open from sunrise to sunset. Please do not seek this cache at night.

The container is a small Lock&Lock, with room for the log book, a small pencil, and small TBs such as geocoins.

Congratulations to davdan on the FTF!
