Geocache Description:

One of a series of caches as part of the National Trust's Bringing Brean To Life.

Each cache container contains an interactive information sheet about the history of the location.

The geocaches at National Trust Brean Down are a new way for people to explore and engage with this beautiful site.

Focusing on the history of Brean Down, the geocaches are all located on open access land and so are accessible year round.

Harry Cox was warden on Brean Down for 40 years from 1909. At that time, the down was a bird sanctuary looked after by the RSPB.

Harry lived in a modest tin shack pictured below and boiled rainwater to drink...the cache is located close to where this shack was.
