Geocache Description:

Lord of the Rings #8

"All right cousin Frodo! You can keep your secret for the present if you want to be mysterious. In the meantime what are we to do? I should like a bite and a sup, but somehow I think we had better move on from here. Your talk of sniffing riders with invisible noses has unsettled me."

Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin are in hiding at the edge of the pastoral fields of their home with the Old Forrest between them and Bree. They have a tough choice to make. Cross the Brandywine River at the Brandywine Bridge and risk the Black Riders along the road or take the long way to Buckleberry Ferry and cut through the Old Forrest? They need to get to the Sign of the Prancing Pony in time to meet Gandalf. Find them and give your advice. Remember, Hobbits hide quite cleverly - they won't just come when you call!

Nearby parking is available at the yellow road gate and a turn-off alongside the cornfields. There are trails coming down along both sides of the creek however if you are heading in from other areas.

The immediate cache location can best be reached from the "wrong end", and will avoid creating an obvious trail. Container is about the size and shape of a tennis ball tube.

THE ONE RING OF NORTHAPMTON PARK
There is a special feature to this series. Sam Gamgee was briefly a Ringbearer when he took the One Ring from the seemingly lifeless body of Frodo in the lair of Shelob.

You also can be a Ringbearer, and for a time take possession of the One Ring. It now awaits any who want to take it up and keep it on the move so that the ever watchful eye of Mordor cannot come to rest upon it. This is a travel bug who's goal is to move from one LOTR cache to another, and begins its journey with the Samwise LOTR Series #1 cache.

If you take this item, please bear it to another cache in this LOTR series and hide it there. Take a picture of yourself or the ring in some Peter Jackson-worthy pose along the way and share it on the One Ring's TB page. Will not fit into the Isengard cache, and its probably just as well that it not get to close to the White Wizard anyhow.
