Geocache Description:

P&G close to the Waltham Dam

The W.R. Beatty generating station is located on the lowest reach of the Noire River, just before it flows into the Ottawa River near the town of Waltham, Québec. It has an installed capacity of 11 MW and was first developed for electricity in 1906. W.R. Beatty
is a run-of-river station with a small forebay. Water for the station is stored primarily in 14 small reservoirs, which are located on upstream tributaries of the Noire River. W.R. Beatty has interconnections with both the Ontario and Québec power grids. The station is fully automated, allowing remote control of its units. Best place to view dam is from the bridge on the main road. There is a small cemetary off the main road and the cache is just off the trail beside the Ivy Hill cemetary. If you travel a few hundred meter further down the road you will find an information poster about the dam sight.
