PT Filling in the Gaps # 10grass flats Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LTS GEORGIA: While going to check this cache this A.M. I was told by 2 different people that I should be aware that several people had been "jumped" along this stretch of the trail, and its not safe to travel alone.

Apparently they hide in bushes and appear as you get to close to get away!

The one man told me he had been jumped twice, and still travels this way "but now I'm ready for those son of a #%%?*#!!'s" he said. I'm guessing he's carrying a gun.

I don't want to cache or have someone else cache somewhere that you need to be packing heat to be safe!!!
I did not even finish my walk to GZ...Time to let it go !!!

Geocache Description:

The trail is available 7 days a week from dawn to dusk with plenty of parking at several spots near the trail. This is a series of 10 caches that are only accessible while enjoying the trail. Keep a watchful eye for muggles; at times the trail can be quite busy. Please hide as good or BETTER.

The Pinellas Trail started off as the Orange Belt Railway in 1888. It was approved for Rails to Trails in 1989; taking old unused railroad tracks and turning them into a trail for biking, walking, skating and enjoyment. In 2003 it became part of the National Trails System by the U.S. Interior Dept. It runs from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs and is a work in process. When complete it will be ~ 47 miles long. These caches are hidden in the Tyrone area of St. Pete and south “between the gaps” of other caches in or near the trail; so, one can hop on the trail and find several caches.
