DOMINKOVA DOMACIJA

DOMINKO'S HOMESTEAD
Everyone is amazed by this 300 years old typical Pannonian house with its walls from logs still firmly standing. The builders had to be real masters of carpentry and "cimpranje" and roofing, as they were usually one and the same person. Dominko's homestead is a Pannonian house with a ground plan shaped in the form of the letter L. Thick oak beams for walls were plastered and covered with clay in which cut straw and weeds were previously mixed. The dried plastering was bleached with lime and that is how the house still looks today. It has typical rooms arranged as was the firm rule of the time: doorway behind entrance doors, "black kitchen" and pantry, and the biggest room – "house" for dwelling and as a living room and a small room or "small house" on the opposite side of the doorway.
