Geocache Description:

Series of caches highlighting the different paths that US Route 50 has taken over the years

US Route 50 runs from Ocean City, MD to Sacramento, CA, over 3000 miles. This series focuses on the portion between Parkersburg and Clarksburg, WV. Locally known as Route 50, George Washington Highway, Northwest Turnpike, Cooridor D- this section is now entirely four-lane highway. There are still several segments of older highway that can be seen and travelled. In some areas, more than one older alignment may be found.

The Archbold Cemetery has some very old graves. There is also an area where a family is buried that all died in the 1950 flood that struck this area. Cemetery is very well kept.

Back before the four lane highway, the cemetery was accessed off of England's Run, with the back of the cemetery facing the highway. Now it's reversed. Englands Run was shortened by the new highway.

Cache is a smallish lock and lock type container. Caution should be exercised when there has been rain - it can be a bit slick. Cache contains log and pencil, and a few trinkets. As with all cemetery caches, please respect your surroundings, and no night caching.
