Geocache Description:

Take a trip by vehicle or foot up to the foothills above Alamogordo. This Cache is a nice hike or drive up a steady incline that leads you to a wide spot in the road. If you dare drive your Vehicle make sure you have ample ground clearance as some of the stones in the road will eat oilpans! 4x4 is not a must, but beware some washes and loose rock!

I could see a trail east of Indian wells road that led up side of the hill adjacent to the Space Hall of Fame. I have a Jeep so one sunday afternoon we decided to check it out. We found access to it from the ally off of senic and 18th street. You can also access it from the state road 2001. The trail is a steady assent and is real rocky, it will take you onto lincoln national forest land. Make sure you wear good shoes or boots as the hike will be quite rough. If you dare take your vehicle, make sure it is trail capable. I would rate this trail chalanging for most stock 4x4 trucks so be ready for a few scratches and some new rattles! Last but not least watch for snakes and take water, BE CAREFUL!
