Orenaug Park, deeded to the town in 1892 by Susan B. Shove,
features a simple trail system providing visitors with a mixture of
woodlands, rocky ledges, ponds, and overviews.
At the trail's peak is a fire tower that offers views of the
surrounding area. When the hawks are soaring, it is a great spot to
see them in flight and to try to grab a photo or two.
(Notes: There are steep (single file) stairs that lead up to an
enclosed observation deck. Perhaps five people can fit comfortably
up top.)
There are two ways to access Orenaug Park - from Town Hall
complex at the intersection of Routes 6 and 317 and from Park Road.
The quickest access to this cache is from the Town Hall
Complex.
The hike is steep and winds three times if you go the long way.
If you catch the short cut, it's a bit of work but it bring you out
between the fire tower and the cache.
