Geocache Description:

A regular clip lock with room for a few swaps etc. Small log and pencil.

When You Go Home, Tell Them, For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today

At the outbreak of WW1 High Lane village was a simple mining village; how could it lose so many men?

Some of the men were ex-Boy Scouts, and are remembered each year at the service; they are:- Joe Braddock Aged 20 years Walter Fletcher Aged 21 years George Warner Aged 22 years Fred Lloyd Aged 22 years Stanley Ridgway Aged 21 years

Facsimilies of these local heroes are in the cache, provided May 2011 by JeanieJ, Scout Leader, 1st High Lane Scout Group.

In the church yard is the grave of David Walker a young cub scout who tragically drowned in the canal on his way home from a pack meeting in the 1960's.

Also George Milburn King's Scout (3rd Goodmayes) one time Group Chairman.

Please make this a CITO cache and remove any rubbish you find in the area. There is a small litter bin on the opposite side of the road

The hide is simple and straight forward, appropriate to its location. Congratulations to Khoomfay for FTF
