You may encounter nude hikers from Little Beach. Please bring pen/pencil to sign logbook. DO NOT ATTEMPT to access this cache from Black Sand beach or the divide between Big and Little Beach where trail is closed due to the sheer cliffs! A safe hike is from the path just above Little Beach, about halfway in, then turn uphill on trails.
This cinder cone hike has lots of thorny shrubs, but if you can find a deer trail it will be much easier. Wear thick soled shoes to keep the thorns out of your feet. Don't go too far north or south or you will be above steep cliffs. If you bring kids, keep a close eye on them. You may encounter Axis deer in this area, keep an eye out for them. If you hear a whoof or snort, you've been spotted by them.
Don't be shy, Little beach is friendly and won't hurt any member of your group. You might even like it and try it for yourself. If you go to Little Beach on a Sunday evening, you'll see fire dancers, drummers and people just having fun dancing talking, watching sunset, dressed or not.
