Geocache Description:

You are in search of a standard thermos bottle, filled with swag and log. Camo'd and hidden at the site of an old mystery.

The small electronics company across the street from this cache, a small manufacturer of cable and electronic switches and equipment became briefly world-famous in cryptozooligical circles in May of 2006 when a video entitled 'Wampus Cat' was posted on YouTube by employees who had videotaped an unidentified animal they had seen wandering around the factory grounds. You can see the video here:

The "Wampus Cat"is a mythological beast of Cherokee Indian legend that lives somewhere in the wilds of North Carolina. The wampus cat was a woman who disguised herself in the skin of a cougar to spy on the men of the tribe as they sat around the campfire and told sacred stories on a hunting trip. When the woman was discovered, the tribe's medicine man punished her by transforming her into a half-woman, half-cat, who supposedly still haunts the forests.

When this video was posted online it led to a brief flurry of local and national news reports and speculation. The North Carolina Wildlife Federation declared it to be a fox with a rare genetic mutation.....or was it???

Beware when you seek this cache. The 'beast' may be watching......
